We are a family owned and
operated business, in the same location on the same property since 1918. Unlike factory farms with the goal to
process as many cattle as possible; we raise all of our own cattle; we do not
buy outside cattle and label them as ours. We truly care for and care about
our soil and grasses and our cattle, and hope to pass them along to our children
and grandchildren.
We are honest and do care about the health of our customers and their
families, which is why we go “Beyond Organic”.
No
Antibiotics are Used - Cattle
were not meant to eat a diet of grain; therefore they are given
antibiotics in the feedlots to treat “subacute acidosis”.
After eating this type of meat for a period of time,
your body
becomes susceptible to the bacteria that these medications were meant to treat.
No Growth Hormones or Steroids Used - We believe it is important
for our cattle to grow at their own rate, as nature intended. Some grow faster
than others and that’s okay, we watch them every day to see that they are
healthy and stress free. We choose not to go back to the conventional way of
growing cattle. We feel that our family’s health and your health is worth much
more than the extra pounds that some
cancer causing growth hormone could produce.
Although grass fed meat is low in total fat, it has two to six times more
omega-3 fatty acids. Omega-3s are "good fats" that play a vital role in every
cell and system in your body. For example, of all the fats, they are the most
heart-friendly. People who have ample amounts of Omega-3s in their diet are less
likely to have high blood pressure or an irregular heartbeat. Remarkably, they
are 50 percent less likely to suffer a heart attack. Omega-3s are essential for
your brain as well. People with a diet rich in Omega-3s are less likely to
suffer from depression. Sixty percent of the fatty acids in grass are Omega-3s.
When cattle are taken off Omega-3 rich grass and shipped to a feedlot to be
fattened on Omega-3 poor grain, they begin losing their store of this beneficial
fat. Each day that an animal spends in the feedlot, its supply of Omega-3s
diminishes.
